Work Placements take place over a limited period, often part of education such as in secondary school, college and university education in order to gain work experience there are both payed and unpaid placement opportunities.

  • There are many benefits of taking up a work placement such as:
  • Carrying out a work placement allows you to get a taste of the real working world. As part of your training you will be given responsibility and deadlines challenging the way in which you whilst familiarising you with what is expected in a workplace.
  • A work placement can improve your academic experience, studies have shown that students who complete a successful work placement go on to do better in their degree. Gaining real-life experience in a field you are studying enables you to have a wider understanding of the subject matter.
  • You will meet a wide range of people such as those who are working at your organisation and other companies that work with the opportunity, building connections within your sector is a great way to hear about job and training opportunities.
  • Get ahead of the curve by taking on a work placement in a competitive job market, gaining experience will look attractive to future employers.
  • Often as part of work placements you are given training opportunities within that specific sector, this is a great way to learn new things for free.
