Young Researchers – Regional Youth Led Peer Research

The National Lottery Community Fund are really excited to be undertaking, with The Young Foundation, youth led peer research across England hearing directly from young people their funding priorities for their regions.  This project will allow young people to highlight their funding priorities for their region going forward.  This will inform funders, delivery organisations and youth organisations about priorities to focus funding on in their region. It will also shape the development of the #iwill Fund and wider funding by the Fund.

We are now looking for young people to take up this fantastic opportunity.  Please see more information at https://www.youngfoundation.org/?press_releases=new-youth-led-peer-research-network-to-focus-on-young-peoples-experiences  and the application form at  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHA0PaJCekNdmM_mEek3W9n7iAL8yyxNV0R2j27ZLJ-eKvuA/viewform

This work will:

  • Help funders (public, private and corporate), delivery organisations and youth organisations understand the priorities of young people across their region.
  • Help funders (public, private and corporate), delivery organisations and youth organisations identify what would make a difference to young people in their region, now and in the future.
  • To explore young people’s visions for the future beyond Covid-19.
  • To uncover voices that are unheard.
  • To help young people from communities across the region join together.

10 young people will be recruited in each region, reflecting a range of backgrounds and experiences reflective of young people living in the region.  This recruited team of young people will be supported with tailored training and support to lead and conduct research into the experiences and priorities of young people across their region to highlight their funding priorities for young people for their region going forward.  Once the research is completed, the young people will facilitate a co-design process in which the team of young people are supported to identify the best way to, and then to, deliver the presentation of their research findings so that funders, delivery organisations and youth organisations across the region can embed this thinking in their work and future decisions.

Boston Heritage Trail

The Boston Youth Ambassador Project are creating a Boston Heritage Trail to highlight many of Boston Town Centre’s historic gems!

We would like to get as many youth ambassadors together as possible to research and design the trail in two sessions over the coming months.

This is a great learning opportunity for those interested in online marketing, photography, research, and other related skills.

To get in touch and find out more, please contact Laabiyah.

Join the County Views panel

We would like to invite you to join the County Views panel and help us shape the future of Lincolnshire.

The panel was launched earlier this year to gather residents’ views on council services and help shape how those services are delivered.

Anyone living in Greater Lincolnshire can join the panel. Members are invited to complete a short residents’ survey three times a year and can also choose to take part in focus groups and workshops.

You can join the County Views panel and make your voice heard by visiting www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/countyviews

Boston Big Local Environmental Projects

Are you interested in helping to improve the local environment?  If so, Jackie Lane, the Environment Volunteer Coordinator, would love to hear from you.  There are all sorts of opportunities to get involved in.

Now that lockdown restrictions are easing, we are starting to do some small litter picks around Boston, all equipment is provided, and we cover a small area litter picking for about 2 hours.  We will also be doing some planting in public open spaces and other environmental improvement projects in the coming months so please get in touch if you would like to be involved.

We are also introducing a new project:  Boston Naturehood.  We will be working with Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust to build nature into our public spaces to benefit people and wildlife.  We are creating a nature trail throughout the town.  The first stage is to arrange for ecological studies to be carried out at various sites, management plans will be prepared and then we will be inviting the community to work with us to create wildlife habitats and take part in planting projects.

Please contact Jackie Lane, jackielane@lincolnshirecvs.org.uk if you would like more information and to get involved.
