Boston Townscape Heritage Project

Here you can find out more about one of the latest projects we have been working on!

Boston Borough Council and Heritage Lincolnshire are working together to deliver the £1.8 million the Boston Townscape Heritage Project which is funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. This project will rejuvenate and restore the town’s historic Town Centre by reinstating historic shopfronts, repairs, restorations of architectural features and public realm improvements. The project also aims to improve facilities for local people and boost the local economy.

Alongside the Youth Ambassador Programme, the project is offering activities and opportunities for local people to engage with Boston’s diverse history and learn new skills.

The activities programme includes:

Boston Heritage Skills Festival to help people understand historic building techniques and materials. Courses will also explain how to protect and maintain historic buildings.

Boston’s Hanse Day taking place every May in partnership with the Boston Hanse Group. Hanse Day offers a wide range of medieval demonstrations and activities that celebrate Boston’s heritage as part of the Hanseatic League.

Historic Boston (UK) Trump Cards working in partnership with Boston Big Local and Boston Preservation to create the cards, in which we aim to engage the community with their local heritage in a fun and interactive way, it’s a great way for all ages to come together to play a game and learn more about the built environment in their town.
